“Vulnerability is not weakness. It’s the most accurate measure of courage.”

Naomi LeVine, LGMFT

Therapist at Bethesda Counseling Services

Building and maintaining meaningful relationships with ourselves and with the people we care about is some of the greatest work we can do. It also can be the hardest, which can leave us feeling stuck. I truly believe all of my clients have the ability to get “unstuck,” and it’s my intention to help you reach that potential. I focus on the strengths and resources you already have to guide you through this process; with the hope that you’ll leave our time together feeling resilient, accomplished, and more compassionate towards yourself and the people in your life.

I enjoy providing therapy to families with children of all ages, including teenagers. Adolescence can feel like a tumultuous time, and I will use our sessions together to help you navigate those waves. Additionally, I provide couples therapy for a wide array of challenges, ranging from premarital counseling to issues of infidelity, parenting, and communication. So many couples I’ve worked with feel stuck in patterns of interactions that no longer serve them, leaving them wondering, “How did we get here?” -- I aim to help you break down those old behavior patterns and rebuild new ones, based on a foundation of your shared values.

My style of therapy is experiential, using our sessions together to create something different than what you’d get outside the room. I also use tools from dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and emotionally focused therapy. I value authenticity, compassion, and humor, and try to make sure all are present in our work together.

I was born and raised in Florida, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences from the University of Florida. I attended the University of Maryland in College Park for my Master’s degree in Couple and Family Therapy. Outside the therapy room, I enjoy playing music, being outside, reading, exercising, and spending time with the people I love.
