“We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.”
Monica Bachabi, LMSW
Therapist at Bethesda Counseling Services
We are a product of many things such as, but not limited to, our relationships good/bad, personnel experiences, family, trauma, and cultural background. When working with a client, I make it a point to acknowledge the differences that makes you, uniquely you. I strive to make our therapeutic relationship fluid, honest, and transparent.
In therapy, my goal is to provide a safe space in which you can share your world without judgement, fear, or shame. During therapy I hope to provide you with tools and insight to better manage life’s challenges such as trauma past/present, unhealthy relationships, and stress. In addition, we will explore behaviors that either empower or stifle you, finding better ways to remove barriers that are no longer helpful.
I have experience working with clients from childhood through adulthood with a variety of areas of focus. I specialize in working with teens and young adults to assist in navigating life’s transitions, survivors of abuse, and generational cultural challenges for the child and parent. I have a passion for illuminating how our roots can influence our destination. I enjoy working with families who find themselves in the confusing and challenging transition of the first-generation experience. This period can bring up questions, misunderstandings, and disagreements within families. Being a bi-lingual therapist (English &Spanish) allows me to serve a more diverse population.
Through expressing your greatest challenges along with your most memorable moments, my hope is to assist you in healing along with feeling empowered, balanced, and better understood by yourself and loved ones.
Some of my favorite things to do in my spare time are going on adventures with my husband and pups, baking, traveling, painting, pumpkin picking in the fall, and making memories with my friends and family.
